Soft Boiled Eggs

Four Minute Eggs

I like eggs that are just barely cooked. So for me I did a 4 minute soft-boiled egg. And for the aggravation I put up with peeling a really soft-boiled egg, I might as well have just made poached eggs!!  You can cook it longer of course to get to your desired firmness of the egg. To me the more ooze to the yolk,  the better. 6-7  Minutes for a Medium Firmness, 8-9 Minutes for a Hard-boiled egg.  Dealer’s Choice!

All You Need

  • Large Whole Eggs, in their shells
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh Cracked Black Pepper, to taste
  • Your favorite bread, toasted

The Fun Parts

  1. Bring a pot of water up to a boil, reduce the heat to a light simmer and add the eggs.
  2. Begin timing 4 minutes for a very runny egg yolk, 6-7 for a more firmly set egg yolk. 8-9 minutes for a hard boiled egg.
  3. Cool the eggs under running water briefly.
  4. Peel the eggs, and lightly season with salt and pepper.
  5. Serve on or with your favorite toast for dipping.

If you're like me and enjoy a really runny egg yolk. You are better off to poach the egg(s). Less grief than having to peel a very soft boiled egg.

Cook the eggs to your desired firmness.
