This is a nice change of pace for an entrée salad. It tackles heavy-duty appetites, while at the same time balances everything off with healthy choice ingredients. Naturally, feel free to use your favorite cut of steak and chopped ingredients!! Play With Your Food!! Make it your own!!

All You Need

  • 1 lb. Sirloin Steak, about 1/2" thick
  • 2 Hearts of Romaine, washed, rinsed and chopped
  • 3 Hard boiled eggs, chopped
  • 2 Avocados, chopped
  • ~2 Cups Grape or Cherry Tomatoes, halved
  • Your favorite dressing
  • 2-3 TBSP Olive Oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh Cracked Pepper, to taste

The Fun Parts

  1. Season the steak liberally with salt and pepper, being sure to really rub in the seasonings.
  2. Heat the oil in a heavy bottomed pan, over medium heat until the oil is near the smoking point.
  3. Sear the steak for 2-3 minutes, flip and sear for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Remove the steak from the pan, and allow it to rest for about 8-10 minutes. DO NOT slice the steak until your ready to toss it with the other ingredients.
  5. In a large bowl add your lettuce, eggs, avocado, tomatoes, thinly sliced steak and dressing.
  6. Toss the salad until all the ingredients are evenly mixed and dressed. (or you can compose the ingredients on the plate for a more elegant presentation...dealer's choice).
  7. Taste and adjust for seasonings.
  8. Dig in!!

Notes

You can use any cut of steak (or chicken, fish, tofu etc.) that you enjoy. Play With Your Food!! Arugula or watercress is a nice substitution for the romaine.
