Breaking one of the cardinal rules of cookery (combining seafood with cheese), this cheesy crab dip seems to pull it off no problem. So take that all of you pretentious cooks and chefs!! Depending on the cost of the crab meat, (canned, pasteurized lump crab meat is an ideal choice) you may want to only serve this to guests you really like 🙂
Crab and Cheese Dip

All You Need
8 oz. Crab Meat, Lump meat if possible 8 oz. Spreadable Cream Cheese 1 Cup, Cheddar Cheese, shredded 1 Cup, Picante Sauce or Traditional Mexican Salsa 1 tsp. Chili Powder ~1/ 4 Cup, Olives, pitted and halved Your favourite ingredient for dipping. i.e. Pita or Tortilla chips, fresh veggies etc.
The Fun Parts
Preheat an oven to 350 Degrees F In a bowl, mix the picante or salsa with the chili powder. Spread the cream cheese evenly on the bottom of a 9" pie plate. Top the cream cheese with the sauce mixture, crab meat, cheddar cheese and olives. Bake in the preheated oven until the mixture begins to bubble and is hot throughout. Approximately 15 minutes. Top the heated crab dip with additional picante / salsa and serve alongside your favourite dipping ingredients.
Can be all prepared a day in advance, wrapped in the refrigerator and then baked just prior to serving.
